Vice President of External Affairs

(she/her/ella)

Gabriela brings over a decade of experience in human services to her role as VP of External Affairs at New Destiny. She drives initiatives to advance the organization’s mission — expanding housing solutions for survivors of domestic violence and other vulnerable populations — through public policy advocacy, strategic partnerships, and sustainable funding.

Born in Chile, Gabriela moved to New York at 14 and spent more than a decade as an undocumented immigrant, an experience that profoundly shaped her dedication to housing justice and social equity.  She works closely with survivor leaders and people with lived experience of homelessness to ensure that policy solutions reflect the realities of those most affected. Gabriela holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College and serves as co-chair of the NYC Continuum of Care. She shares her home with two rescue cats, Luna and Pibe Suarez — all three of them devoted Mets fans.
