New Destiny’s mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness for low-income families and individuals by developing and connecting them to safe, permanent, affordable housing and services. To achieve its mission, New Destiny builds and manages housing with on-site services; offers innovative programs that assist survivors in finding and retaining affordable housing; and works to expand access to permanent housing resources for survivors. New Destiny is the largest provider of supportive housing for domestic violence survivors in New York and is a leading advocate in the effort to obtain the resources needed to end family homelessness in New York City.
The Enrollment and Outreach Specialist will be the first point of contact for referring providers and incoming participants to New Destiny’s rapid-rehousing programs. This role is tasked with the management of incoming referrals based on program capacity, verifying participant eligibility, and assigning cases across the team of 7 housing navigators located throughout the 5 boroughs of New York City.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Report available vacancies to referral partners to ensure steady stream of incoming participants.
- Confirm incoming referrals with referring case managers and provide follow-up on the status of the participant’s enrollment.
- Maintain accurate data regarding enrollment status of referrals.
- Conduct outreach to referred clients to provide next steps on program enrollment.
- Facilitate weekly orientations in English and in Spanish with potential participants to outline program services and participant expectations.
- Complete homelessness eligibility verification for new referrals and schedule intake appointment with housing navigator for eligible participants.
- Develop materials related to program eligibility and services to share with referring providers.
- Provide support in responding to phone and email inquiries from referring agencies, other service providers, and the public regarding rapid-rehousing services, referral process, and related housing questions.
- Provide auxiliary support to supervisor and housing navigation team as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- 1-3 years’ experience in social services, preferably working with populations experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.)
- Professional proficiency (written and verbal) in English and in Spanish
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is in the low $60s. A hybrid work schedule with 2 work from home days per week is available for this role. This is a full-time position with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short disability, PTO paid holidays and 401(k). EOE
