New Destiny’s mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness for low-income families and individuals by developing and connecting them to safe, permanent, affordable housing and services. To achieve its mission, New Destiny builds and manages housing with on-site services; offers innovative programs that assist survivors in finding and retaining affordable housing; and works to expand access to permanent housing resources for survivors. New Destiny is the largest provider of supportive housing for domestic violence survivors in New York and is a leading advocate in the effort to obtain the resources needed to end family homelessness in New York City.
Job Purpose
The Grants Manager is responsible for project management of New Destiny’s grants including all pre- and post-award responsibilities, a prospecting strategy, and grants tracking and management. Reports to the Director of Development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Development with foundation and corporate funder proposals and report submissions.
- Oversee reporting for government grants including managing relationships with funders and preparing and submitting reports.
- Maintain the grants calendar and track funding deadlines and reporting obligations.
- Communicate to program staff, financial staff, and development staff all required reporting in a timely fashion.
- Prepare monthly fundraising reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Record and manage all grants, individual donations, and activity in the donor management database (eTapestry).
- Oversee donor pledges/contributions including processing, acknowledgments, report generation, and data analysis.
- Collect programmatic and fiscal information for reporting purposes.
- Track all relevant Notices of Funding Availability, Requests for Proposals, and other forms of funding announcements.
- Regularly communicate with the program and fiscal staff regarding funder requirements and deadlines to ensure that programs and expenses are on track for the completion of each grant and report in a timely manner.
- Write grant acknowledgments and other donor-related communications.
- Conduct research to find new grant opportunities.
- Provide support for the annual fundraising benefit and other events as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in grants management or 2-5 years of grants management in housing or a comparable field.
- Excellent writing and organizational skills.
- Experience with document sharing, maintaining document file systems, and navigating online submissionprocesses and protocols.
- Must have exceptional attention to detail and project management skills.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be mission-driven and committed to working in an organization that prioritizes diversity, equity, andinclusion. Experience working with nonprofit social service organizations is preferred.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with donor management software.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, meet deadlines, and handle multiple assignments.
Compensation/Benefits
$70,000 – $75,000 per year with competitive benefits and a hybrid work schedule. This is a full-time position with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short disability, PTO paid holidays and 401(k). EOE.
