Regional Director (Brooklyn and Queens)

New Destiny’s mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness for low-income families and individuals by developing and connecting them to safe, permanent, affordable housing and services. To achieve its mission, New Destiny builds and manages housing with on-site services; offers innovative programs that assist survivors in finding and retaining affordable housing; and works to expand access to permanent housing resources for survivors. New Destiny is the largest provider of supportive housing for domestic violence survivors in New York and is a leading advocate in the effort to obtain the resources needed to end family homelessness in New York City.

Job Purpose

New Destiny is seeking a Regional Director to oversee the Family Support Program in Brooklyn and Queens. This leader is highly collaborative, fast-paced, and nimble; they are responsible for forging new networks and maintaining relationships with existing partners. New Destiny values a hands-on and relationship-based partnership and service delivery style. The ideal candidate for the position will be innovative and passionate about improving the lives of domestic violence survivors and their children. They will capably interface with senior leaders in government agencies, and community-based organizations, and will lead the team to ensure successful onboarding of clinical and community resources into the buildings. We are looking for a committed leader and inspiring presenter with a knack for building trust and buy-in who has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the social services space.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Oversee the provision of social services in New Destiny’s portfolio of buildings in Brooklyn and Queens which currently consists of three buildings, totaling 413 units.
  • Manage a team of 3 direct reports and 9 indirect reports. The staff include Program Directors, Tenant Support Coordinator, Senior Case Managers, Case Managers, and Front Door Monitors.
  • Collaborate with other Program staff to learn/share knowledge, best practices and identify potential partners.
  • Ensure team meets deliverables and provides feedback to affected parties.
  • Assist in developing operating budget for personnel service (PS) and other than personnel services (OTPS) for each site.
  • Monitor budget variance monthly and work closely with the Deputy Executive Director and the Finance team to modify budget as appropriate.
  • Surface emerging trends and tenant needs and work with leadership to develop potential solutions.
  • Work closely with the Director of Data and Evaluation to track data outcomes and confirm accuracy for portfolio.
  • Ensure the use of data is embedded in the supervision for direct & indirect reports.

Program Strategy and Oversight

  • Implement policies and procedures for the effective and efficient delivery of services in compliance with fundingrequirements and agency Quality Assurance standards.
  • Actively participate in the quality assurance program for tenant care and staff performance.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Site Operations to collaborate on resolving tenant and building issues with third-party management companies.
  • Organize and oversee social service audits from contract funders and State agencies as needed. Ensure that allfiling systems remain up to date and accurate in order to meet contract expectations.
  • Ensure ongoing security measures throughout the buildings are adhered to and partner with joint venture partnersand third-party security teams as needed.
  • In partnership with management companies and social service team, monitor arrears at sites and ensure knowledgeof connection to resources with social service team.
  • Work with other members of leadership to develop, monitor, and evaluate program plans to make sure individualneeds are met.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement measures to achieveprogram goals. Implement an on-going review of metrics and ensure programs are meeting KPI standards.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance evaluations, staff education, and ongoing staff training.

External Partnerships

  • Cultivate positive relationships with appropriate funding and monitoring entities, social service providers, and othercommunity partners.
  • Serve as liaison between New Destiny and major partners while assisting in the resolution of escalated client issues.
  • Monitor the success of partnerships and ultimate tenant satisfaction.
  • Manage and participate in high-level presentations, conferences, and public relations requests.
  • Actively seek new information about legislation, new social service housing programs, service delivery models andinitiatives relevant to DV survivors.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred and/or deep knowledge the nonprofit landscape.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with low-income individuals and/or families who are homeless or at risk ofhomelessness. Experience working with domestic violence survivors preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years leading a large and successful team with a proven track record of assisting clients navigatecomplex service systems.
  • Skilled in managing complex projects and implementations with organization and confidence.
  • A passionate, highly motivated leader who sets their team up for success and expects great results.
  • Emotionally intelligent – you speak with candor and authenticity, and you know your audience.
  • An excellent written and oral communicator– you present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of theorganization.

 

Compensation/Benefits

Salary is $90,000-$100,000 a year with competitive benefits. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, Paid holidays, disability insurance, and 401(k). EOE.
